On Friday I was lucky enough to go to a function at Archerfield House, just outside of Gullane on the east coast of Scotland. I have to admit, if money wasn’t an object, I’d like to live in Gullane (obviously with a holiday home in Spain as well)!
We arrived about 15:30 and were shown to our room, which was gorgeous. It was a lot bigger than it looks in the photo as it’s taken quite far into the room. It even had it’s only little landing with a table and window.
Once we had dumped our bags we went down to the well-stocked kitchen to meet some of the others (it’s a bit strange being given the run of the house, but the fact that they only rent out the entire house is great, as you’re not going to bump into strangers).
Back to the room once again for a quick bath and change of clothes, then we all met up in the principle room for a champagne reception.
Then into the dining room for dinner, followed by copious amounts of alcohol (didn’t get a photo this when the big table was set for 30, as I was faffing about and everyone else was already seated when I went in and the table was split into 3 for breakfast).
Think we got to bed around 3, then up again at the back of 9 for brekkie (I had eggs Benedict because it’s my favourite).
Had a fabulous time and the house managed to be opulent without being really showy.
Back to reality on Saturday afternoon though!!
