Off the Cuff

16 October 2011

I made this beaded Rosette Cuff to wear to the wedding of my lovely friends, Jo & Richard, last weekend.

I made the base of the cuff using Miyuki Delica beads and the rosette using Size 11 Seed Beads, also from Miyuki.  I love beads with a matte finish.  The cuff was then placed over a blank and backed with ultrasuede.  I’m really pleased with this one, and I’m to write a tutorial for it, although I may refine the rosette a bit – watch this space.

On other matters, work behind the scene on my forthcoming website is going along slowly but surely.  I’m also working on a project for this month’s Operation Tackle That Bead Stash, in red, aqua and white.

I’ve also finally cut out the stole I was supposed to be making months ago – to be honest pinning and cutting it was a total pain, as the fabric I used was a bit on the slithery side.  Need to get it put together and sewn up – will definitely do some of it one night this week.  Not even started on my duct tape dress form, but have roped in the lovely Lesley, who has agreed to mummify me in tape, when we both have a bit of spare time!

Also, I’m long overdue a craft book post, so check back shortly to see what I’ve added to my library recently.  Until then…

Very Moorish

11 October 2011

I did mean to post this a couple of weeks ago, but have been suffering a bit from labyrinthitis, so haven’t been doing much in the evenings (apart from feeling a bit sorry for myself :P ).

When the hubby and I were in Spain last month, we had the pleasure of visiting The Alhambra Palace in Granada.  They day wasn’t without its hitches, including me being too tight to pay for a taxi from the bus station and dragging us halfway across the city for the shuttle bus, only to find out on the way back it was less than €10 for a taxi anyway (oops).  Poor Stu was suffering a bit from heat exhaustion too (on top of an early start – 2 hr bus journey at 06:30 to get there).  It was very warm, but have to admit I’m lucky enough not to be affected by the heat.  I’d definitely going to go back again at some point next year, but might just go myself,  and let Stu sit and enjoy a few cold beers somewhere.

So now it’s time for me to bore you with my photos!

Wonderful stonework…

… windows, doors and archways…

…mosaics…

…gardens…

…and flowers:

Thought I’d leave my favourite until last

I’ll be posting some jewellery and other makes in the next few days, so please pop by again soon.

Toodles,

Lisa xoxo
